GnarBike Trials is a good simulator of motorcycle trials for Windows Phone which has not yet been brought to perfection and has some small problems with portrayal of some elements, as well as with absence of responsive controlling. However, this is still the only game of this genre which has been given three-dimensional graphics and excellent detailing, so fans of driving by powerful bikes on incredibly difficult areas should not miss it in any case.
GameplaySo, you will find a huge number of wooden ramps making it possible to climb to great heights and gain crazy speed while going down from them, as well as to perform stunts and, of course, to break the main character’s neck. Believe us, the latter will occur much more often than you would like.
In addition to artificial hills and jumps, on the playing field there will appear huge blue containers which are often used for transportation of goods by rail and sea. Also, you will see the concrete rings, long and short boards, and a variety of structures assembled of metal sills. In general, there will be a holy load of obstacles, but the hardest part is not that you need to overcome them, but that you will need to do it in a very short time.
Time is runningAt the top of the screen, you will be able to notice a stopwatch that gets started only after you cross a virtual line stretched between two cones which some the green smoke rises from. The stopwatch stops only after you cross the similar line designated with cones with red smoke. Along the way, you will from time to time come across cones exuding yellow smoke.
The latter are nothing but save points (checkpoints) which you will return to in the event of a fall of the main character on some of the obstacles. However, we have failed to find any practical application in this, since the stopwatch does not return to the testimony of the time when you crossed the first save point. Moreover, it doesn’t not even pause. Given that it is incredibly difficult to get even a silver medal for completing a level (with almost perfect performance), a return to save points cannot even be considered useful. We would not advise this.
Controlling and additional game modesControlling in the game can be both full-touch and mixed (with the use of an accelerometer), but the best, in our opinion, is exactly what is implemented by default. There are plenty of levels in GnarBike Trials, but to evaluate them all is possible only after the payment within the game. In addition, the game has a mode in which you can create challenges by yourself and share them with other users. On this basis, it is easy to guess that the game has a mode that allows you to ride on locations created by the same players as you.
ResumeThe graphics in the game is, in general, quite nice and despite the angular performance of some elements, it is worthy of an excellent rating. The soundtrack consists mainly of the roar of engine but it goes well with the gameplay. In case of problems when the game starts, you need to change regional and language settings of the smartphone to USA/English. Hopefully, the developers will fix all the flaws of the game soon.
