IronShip Space is a very interesting scrolling shooter for Windows Phone in which you will find an intergalactic warship and a super-dynamic gameplay driven by the presence of a huge number of asteroids and enemy spaceships. Strange as it may sound, the main purpose of the game is not to destroy the enemy or space debris, but just to stay as long as possible in the vastness of space concealing many dangers.

Gameplay

At first, you will have to fend off small asteroids by shooting them with a rather modest laser gun. Over time, your ship will come across some bonuses that increase the power of weapons, but it will be difficult to collect them. The thing is that they explode when colliding with asteroids, and breaking apart they damage those very asteroids. That is, in any case they are useful but it would be better if you really tried to collect them. If you close your eyes to this task, an encounter with larger asteroids will bring you nothing but troubles.

Gameplay features

Large asteroids are insidious not even in the fact that they are difficult to be destroyed or avoided, but in the fact that after a brief fire at it, you will get a powerful explosion which will produce a great number of smaller asteroids. If this happens closer to the bottom edge of the screen, you may as well be sure that you are going to collide with them in any case. Your spaceship can easily survive several blows, but if it is in poor condition at the time of the split of a huge ice block into smaller fragments, you may begin to prepare to restart the game.

In addition to the main gun, at your disposal there is a powerful rocket launcher that is capable of destroying asteroids and enemy ships in a jiffy, but it takes a very long time to be recharged. While the danger comes only from the top side of the playing field, it is quite simple to cope with the task; however, after a couple of levels you will be caught up by the enemy ship which will start shooting at you with all the trunks. In this case, it will be difficult to act without additional weapons and bonuses flying apart from a collision with something.

Resume

Controlling of the ship is performed by using an accelerometer, and before you start playing it must be calibrated. If you want to change the posture or position of your smartphone, you can press the pause button and go to the game settings to recalibrate the accelerometer. The graphics in this game are pretty mediocre, but considering the gameplay and the speed of the game, one just has no time to pay attention to minor issues. The soundtrack also doesn't feature anything very special but it is not boring. In general, it's a good scrolling shooter which can be a great time-killer.
