AE Zombie Defender is a very peculiar game of the genre of Tower Defense in which we have to stop the dark army consisting of zombies, ghouls and ghosts seeking to enter our world. As far as we learnt while testing the game, it has a single location (a map) and only one mode called "Survival mode". That is, having at our disposal a holy load of weapons, we must hold out as long as possible, but eventually the wandering deads will prevail and penetrate the world of the living anyway.
Gameplay featuresThere are really a great number of weapons in AE Zombie Defender, but their capabilities are limited with respect to certain types of enemies. Yes, the similar nuances of application of particular weapons to specific goals exist in other games of the genre of Tower Defense as well (for example, in cases where we are dealing with aircraft), but in this game this feature is implemented very strongly. At first, you will only have the access to a machine gun turret which is capable of hitting all targets of flesh. Just a few waves later, the ghosts will emerge on the battlefield to whom the machine guns fail to cause absolutely any harm, and you will have to fork out for plasma cannons.
After some more time, you will encounter huge monsters that are able to freeze everything around them, and only those weapons have the capacity to cope with them that have the greater damage range than the range of the freezing wave emanating from evil spirits. Because the ice and fire are absolutely incompatible, you can use flamethrowers for the destruction of such monsters, as well, but they are too expensive to afford them at the beginning of the game. Since the playing field is empty and does not contain any obstacles, you can put your guns in any place.
Make zombies walk near the weapons as long as possibleTo cause maximum damage to the enemy, we recommend to place weapons snake-like, so that zombies were forced to wander through the maze as long as possible. However, ghosts are absolutely not concerned with this, for they can pass right through weapons. Because of this, it is advisable to have special plasma guns closer to the center of the screen, because standing on the edge of the playing field, they will fail to get to the ghosts and simply be useless.
ResumeThe graphics in the game are quite tolerable, especially given the fact that the game is designed in the paper style. Even the weapons positioned on the playing field look like they were drawn in pen on paper and then cut out with scissors. The game is free, but it has a banner that can interfere with choosing your weapons. To avoid clicks on the banner, scroll the list of weapons with horizontal sliding movements. In general, the game is quite worthy of attention and will surely appeal to fans of the genre.
