Epic Citadel - a new benchmark test of the studio Epic Games, which shows how graphics can give your phone or tablet on Unreal Engine 3. Feature of the benchmark is that in addition to the test, we are free to walk around the fairy kingdom with beautiful streets, landscapes and, of course, castles.
This is the first application of a cult studio Epic Games for Android. It gives us great hope that the authors of such hit series as Gears of War and Unreal Tournament, pay attention to mobile platforms and release their own game for mobile systems.
Test modeEpic Citadel test run in a few seconds, and the speed is amazing, given the quality of the graphics and the number of textures that need to be drawn. Initially, we will show a few locations, then will walk hand and look at the majestic castle and its surroundings.
Management in the classic game mode: two virtual joystick to control the movement and visibility. Manage movement if desired simply by clicking on any object roads, paths, etc.
From the first seconds of the world around the castle is striking for its beauty and high details. Graphics in the game is a console-level Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Of course, in terms of the depth of texture detail is not so smooth, but in any case, the fact is striking, as currently little device, smartphone or tablet, capable to compete with the power of game consoles.
In the benchmark, we will not be able to guide the process, but it can in flight mode to consider the most beautiful places in the virtual space, and at different angles, lighting, and weather conditions. Naturally, in the corner of the screen we can see the number of FPS (frames per second) for your device. We tested the Epic Citadel on the Samsung Galaxy S III, and the results ranged 50-55 FPS, we are very pleased.
We hope that Epic Games has released this test is not just so, and will be followed by a full game already. At least, we are waiting for a good network slashers, the more that one card is ready, only add heroes and swords, axes, bows.
Summary. Epic Citadel - a very interesting benchmark for Android, which clearly shows that modern mobile devices have no way inferior to the console, and are quite ready for a serious, expensive and graphically complex games.
