Lots of short videos, quizzes you after every video, learn in bite sized portions
Many of the videos are already uploaded online, there is no compiler or editor built into the app
Learn C++ for Android is a sort of companion app that helps you learn C++ while you’re on the go. It doesn’t matter if you’ve had previous coding experience or if you’re just starting out, however. Its goal is to act as a quick resource that can either quickly build up a foundation, help give you a quick refresher, or just give you another perspective of something you might have learned in class.
So this app includes over 80 lessons that is split into 8 levels. The app itself only really covers the basics that you need to build up a solid foundation. So in it, you’ll learn things like data types, arrays, pointers, conditional statements, loops, functions, classes, and more. Each lesson has both a text portion and a video. Honestly, the text portion is a bit useless if you don’t have any coding experience. It typically shows code snippets and a very brief description of what you see, but the videos will go into more detail about what you’re learning.
After every lesson you’ll be prompted with a question. These questions can range from simply choosing an answer from a bank or filling in blank sections of code. Unfortunately, the app isn’t robust enough to have an editor and compiler built in, so you won’t be writing anything from the ground up. The thing about coding is that it takes practice, just like learning a musical instrument or math. So again, this should be used as a companion rather than the only way you learn to code.
Learn C++’s greatest feature is how simple and basic it is. Bucky, the guy who does the YouTube videos has his own channel where you can learn several programming languages, and he’s always done a great job breaking things down into a very easily digestible format. This app is that but even simpler.
