Have you ever felt an impassioned need to open up your own ice cream and snack truck? If you’re most people, the answer is probably not. For the rest of us, we’re stuck with games like Snack Truck Driver for Android. This is a match-three meets Diner Dash where you’re serving up delicious treats by matching ingredients to create snacks for your hungry customers.
I was first taken aback because when I looked to see who developed this game, I found that it was none other than Square Enix. Yeah, the same guys that bring you Tomb Raider and the Final Fantasy series. This is an incredibly far flung departure from those games, but it’s got all of the same polish you’d really come to expect from a developer like this.
As mentioned above, this is a matching game, but you can draw lines through already connected pieces vertically, diagonally, and horizontally. This means there is a greater amount of matches that can be made, and you’ll need to take full advantage of this in order to succeed in the game. Most of your objectives will be based around matching stuff before you actually hit what you really need to match.
Fortunately, you’ve got a lot of various power-ups you can earn in the game, and you can gain powered-up tiles by simply matching large groups of numbers, too. Basically, if there isn’t a constant explosion of matches on your screen then you’re probably doing something wrong.
Snack Truck Driver is pretty typical, but there are a lot of matching mechanics involved in the game. I’d actually venture to say that this game is on the upper echelon of match-threes simply because of how polished it is, the unique mechanics, and the gameplay premise. Definitely worth a look.
