Good graphics, solid gameplay
Embarrassing subject matter, lengthy tutorials
Drift Girls for Android is nothing but fanservice in bad taste. Though, I'm not truly sure there is an existing fanbase for this game. It clearly panders to young men by showcasing women drawn to be disproportionately well endowed by natural conventions. But the game is actually guilty of much more than just that.
So, there is a drifting game hidden in here. After an extraordinary long intro, you're shown how to drift your car. Since the vehicle steers automatically, each race is but up into two parts: the launch and the various drifts. In the launching stage, you'll need to sort of dribble the RPMs in a certain area to get a perfect launch. When you're drifting, you simply need to tap and hold two buttons on either side of the screen that correspond to left and right turns, respectively.
Like most racing games, you'll acquire gear, unlock new cars, and have the ability to upgrade your existing ride if you want. What's new is the ability to give girls rides. Yep, that's right. You get to choose which of the ridiculously drawn girls you want to ride around in your car. Hilariously enough, you actually get stat bonuses for which girls you ride around with, and you can even build up a relationship with these girls that further boosts your stats as the story progresses.
Pandering aside, the game also just takes a really long to do just about anything. Loading the game takes a while, and when you first jump into the game, you're faced with a super long download, even when a really good internet connection.
Sure, some people will certainly enjoy Drift Girls, but the whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way. Take the girl part out and you'd have a halfway decent racing game. As it is now, I'm simply too embarrassed to play it.
