Engaging tower defense style combat in a WWII setting
Author: Jay Feldman
Date: 16 May 2017, tested on ASUS Nexus 7 (2013)
Neat graphics, addictive game play, simple controls
Animation is a bit laggy
Little Commander: WWII TD for Android is a killer tower defense style game. Build up gunners, grenade launchers and cool weaponry to defend your ground in this high impact, addictive combat game.
Little Commander: WWII TD is a lot of fun. It takes the familiar tower defense style play and places it in a World War II setting. In this one, you’re not building towers, but just a lot of cool weaponry; some of which looks more futuristic than authentic, but who cares about details when you’re having fun?
The game features a highly developed map of Europe, and your mission is to traverse the landscape, one level at a time, and hold your ground as the enemy tries to march on through. There’s foot soldiers, tanks, armory trucks and even biplanes. It’s all very engaging. The best part is, this is a gamer’s game, meaning, you can actually play without being hounded constantly for IAPs. The game rightly gives you the ability to actually play and enjoy, and if you want to pay to up your play, then you can. But the design doesn't hold you hostage with shoddy performance just to force purchases.
The graphics are decent and goes for retro arcade successfully. The animation is laggy at times but satisfying. It’s fun to watch all the explosions and watch your gunners blast the hell outta everything that tries to sneak by. The game taxes your battery, but it's worthwhile for the fun it returns.
Little Commander: WWII TD is fantastic; just good clean fun, made by developers who clearly respect gaming. I’m more inclined to toss a few bucks to an app like this than some of the other greedy mongers out there who hamper play in favor of a beggar’s hand. This one is worthwhile, and I’ll gladly click on ads and make some IAPs to reward the solid development and fun play.
