Review Pop BackTris HD
A watered down match-three game

Family friendly, interesting gameplay
Poor graphics, title is somewhat misleading
I'd be lying if I said I'm a bit disappointed that this game isn't some kind of Tetris knockoff. On one hand, Pop BackTris HD for Android does take a cue from Tetris, but on the other hand, it's only a cue. In essence, it's an endless matching game where you're trying to do your hardest to rack up the highest score you can before the inevitable happens.
So if you were excited about a Tetris game, here's the deal, it does include scrolling tiles, but it's not the way you want it. What happens is you start off with randomized tiles situated at the bottom of a level. As time passes by the existing tiles will jump up a bit on the screen. Like true Tetris style, once those blocks hit the ceiling, it's game over. So in order to try and survive, you'll need to tap on three or more matching blocks to knock things back down a bit.
What's unfortunate is that there is only one gameplay mode. The potential for head on multiplayer battles is there, but the execution is not. It's a missed opportunity for the developers because as the game stands, it's a very short experience, and the gameplay doesn't stand up enough by itself to warrant its existence on your device for very long. Graphics look dated and there is really only one board to play on.
Despite already being a bit disappointed about this not being a Tetris game, there are still some glaring flaws in the gameplay. The lack of gameplay options, dated graphics, and lack of a multiplayer really makes this game feel like it doesn't have much to offer a player.
