Horrible controls, unbalanced gameplay, serves up debilitating ads
If you looked at the only pro tip for this game and wondered if I just forgot to add some more, you’d be incorrect. Zingy Space for Android was a game that I downloaded excitedly and became almost immediately disappointed with. It’s a space-themed RTS game that has a problem serving up too many ads and features totally unbalanced gameplay.
So each game consists of three factions going at it. Each faction is represented by a planet and some space ships. Ships will spawn in on their own. Tapping on the screen will send all of the ships in one direction and shoot. The problem is that ships don’t shoot automatically although AI controlled ships seem to. So if you have to constantly tap a ship to shoot it.
You’re at a constant disadvantage because both sides only attack you, so while you’re focused on one ship, the other AI faction has flanked you and is wiping out your fleet with no resistance because your ships simply won’t shoot back, and you have no other way to defend yourself. When you do manage to get some kills, you will earn points that can be used to upgrade your ships. As far as I could tell, figuring out the exact way to level up your ships seemed to be paramount in surviving the inevitable onslaught.
Let’s get to the real issue: ads. This is a game that doesn’t mind throwing a fullscreen ad in your face right as you’re in the middle of a game. In fact, it seems like it pops up every 30 seconds or so. It’s absolutely infuriating and ruins what little fun could be had with the rest of the game.
I honestly can’t see a scenario where Zingy Space ever becomes a truly fun game. It needs to be totally rebalanced, needs to integrate better controls, and the developers need to figure out a better revenue model.
