Review Fieryland

Brandon Girod
Good performance, cutscenes are skippable
Doesn’t support Google Games, terrible combat system, gameplay is 100% automated
I never thought I’d ever play a game I could succinctly describe as an RPG on wheels until I played Fieryland for Android. My entire experience could be summarized by saying I largely clicked two buttons and watched the game play itself.
When you first jump into the game you get to pick from a few classes that are fairly typical for a fantasy set RPG. Then you start a never ending quest of running from point A to point B for no reason other than collecting resources and leveling up. The game “autopaths” you to each quest objective and quest giver and combat is automatic though you do occasionally have to hit a few QTE buttons.
Now, you can move around on your own but once the autopath function is shown there really doesn’t seem any reason to not use it because it makes the entire process ten times more efficient than if you were just doing it manually.
Some people will like this and some people won’t. I personally hate it because it makes me wonder why I’m “playing” the game at all. Weapons and items don’t do much to change the look of your character and since the game plays itself you just sit by and idly watch your character get stronger but there is little satisfaction in that.
That said, if you are a fan of the game there is a ton of content in it. There is a marriage system, dungeons, good graphics, and the level cap is currently 90. The developers also seem to be doing a really good job of adding in new content at a fairly steady pace.
Fieryland feels like a true blue free-to-play MMORPG that you might have played back in 2009. The character models are fairly well detailed and there is a ton of content and events going on. Unfortunately the game plays itself and that really takes out the satisfaction of it all.
