A fun local multiplayer game
Excellent controls, fun gameplay
Limited game modes, it hides the fact that the majority of the features need to be paid for

Local multiplayer is a function that is missing from a lot of multiplayer games and seems to have been forgotten in lieu of online support. Online is great but it’s just nowhere near as fun as playing with someone sitting right next to you -- or in this case, in front of you. Dual! for Android is literally a split screen, local multiplayer game that pits you against a friend.
I’ve gotta say upfront, I really enjoy the game’s aesthetic and presentation, but I’m not a huge fan of how the user interacts with the UI itself. It looks great, but you have to hold down every selection you make for x amount of seconds before the game actually registers the selection, and this lead to some trouble getting things synced up so we could play.
There are two modes, one that has you fighting each other in face-to-face battles and another that has you and your friend team up to defend the base from oncoming attackers. The latter requires you to actually purchase the game mode and there are a few ships you can unlock later on that you have to purchase as well. In a way, you could call this a pay-to-win game considering the ships you start off with are okay, but don’t aren’t as strong as the unlockable ships.
Multiplayer is can be set up between Bluetooth or by simply being on the same WI-FI connection. Bluetooth is still a work in progress, but we didn’t have any problems getting set up and playing over that. WI-FI worked pretty much flawlessly as well.
Dual! is fun for what it does, but the price tag is pretty unjustifiable considering there are literally only two game modes to play. Content is super limited and gets old really fast.
