Review FallenSouls - Dragon Battle
Kid friendly fantasy RPG with nice graphics
Author: Jay Feldman
Date: 09 Jul 2017, tested on Samsung SM-G920F Galaxy S6
Modest plot, neat graphics, simple controls
Kills your battery, too easy, low quality animation
FallenSouls for Android is a fantasy combat RPG that pits your band of ominous heroes against mythic enemies with supernatural powers. Explore this mysterious realm and do battle against your foes to come out victorious. This one is best suited for little kids and devoted diehards.
FallenSouls displays in landscape and starts you off in the middle of an ancient town square, populated with various warriors from around the world, all looking to be the big hero. There's several interactive menus, online guilds and quests to embark on. Just follow the onscreen prompts to accept a mission or join a guild, then make your way to the magic portal where you're magically transported to the rugged battle field. Each altercation begins with a text based plot that delivers some modest intrigue. From there, it's time to combat your enemy in turn by turn fashion, which all takes place on autopilot, so all you gotta do is sit back and watch. Yes, there's violence, but it's all very benign, assuring it remains kid friendly.
The controls use basic screen taps to make menu selections and advance through the text driven plot. The battles require no controls whatsoever, which kinda kills the game's mojo. The graphics are quite good, with nice details in the town square and some truly menacing looking enemies. The animation is the game's weakest element by far, offering only motion tracking on still images, with the occasional burst effect for good measure. The sounds get tedious before long.
FallenSouls is a decent RPG that's ideal for kids, given the simple controls and mechanics of play.
