Quality game design, neat graphics, interesting plot
Device is running hot, not interesting to play without paying money, aggressive ad system
Governor of Poker 2 for Android is a quality game of Texas Holdem. Teleport yourself back to the old, wild wild west days, sit around a poker table at ye old saloon and spit some tobacco for good measure. This one features cool visuals and presentation.
Governor of Poker 2 display sin landscape and starts you off with an aerial view of a dusty, old time western town that looks like something out of Gunsmoke. There's city folk wandering the streets, and seemingly every other building has an icon on the roof denoting that a game is in progress. Just tap any building to enter and join in on the action. From there, you'll see an aerial view looking down on the card table below, with cowboy hat wearing patrons seated around the table. The dealer draws and deals cards and you place bets and play as per usual.
The controls use basic screen taps while playing poker, and some modest touch and drag commands to navigate the city map. The graphics go for cartoon depictions of cowboy stereotypes that suited the play. The animation is quite nice, with realistic deal and card play effects. The sounds feature spoken dialog by the dealer, and realistic playing card and poker chips sounds, mimicking a casino experience.
Governor of Poker 2 is good fun, but don't let the playful presentation fool you; you can lose real money here, just like and old time cowboy hold up.
