wall:splash | unsplash images displays in portrait and landscape mode to present a vertically scrolling interface populated with high resolution images suitable for use as home screen wallpapers. In portrait mode, the app displays a single column of images, while in landscape, it presents two columns side by side. No matter which mode you use, the images look pristine and do not appear to be cropped for display purposes. Just scroll through the offerings and click on something that interests you to view the photographer’s name and the date the image was submitted to the app for your consideration.
The app functions fairly well throughout, though I did encounter some nominal lags and hangs as these high resolution images loaded. Tapping on an image brings up a small interface displaying the one image you selected, along with three small icons; share, download and set as wallpaper. I thought it was kind of cool that you can set images as wallpapers within the app, because it invites search and discovery, as well as implementation, in one single app.
