In Glorkian Warrior for Android you get to play a goofy alien in a space suit, running around and blasting flying alien nasties out of an extraterrestrial sky. The flying aliens do all kinds of pointlessly cool aerial acrobatics, and drop things that actually help you; like canisters that change what your rocket pack weapon does. From firing single pulses, it moves up to continuous streams, in multiple directions, and finally swirling spirals of laser carnage.
There are always different things to face in the waves of attack; from meteor showers to UFOs. It's easy to get carried away blasting baddies, that you forget the real objective is to last as long as you can.
The start and menu screens are as varied as the gameplay, and feature plenty of tongue in cheek humor. Even your jetpack/rocket has a sarcastic personality, and pokes fun at you each time you lose. For me, this game ticked all the right boxes: it's bright and colorful, without the sound being too grating. It's fast paced, with a useful selection of control options. It doesn't get repetitive. No doubt people will compare this to the arcade classic Space Invaders, but Glorkian Warrior is definitely an original game. Out of this world!
