World Poker Club for Android is a virtual poker app that seats you at a table with various players from around the globe to compete in live poker tournaments and one-off games. Yes, you can spend real money here on virtual chips, so watch your wallets.
World Poker Club displays in landscape mode to deliver a modest looking interface that goes for realism. There's a short menu along the bottom of your screen with virtual buttons for, Lobby, All Tops, Events, Help and Settings. There's also a selection of 3 play buttons on the right, Select Table, Play Now, and Tournaments. Until you get acclimated to the app, the only button you need worry about is the Play Now; just tap that to automatically be added to the next available game. From there, you'll be presented with a casino style poker table, as seen from above, looking directly down on the table below.
Each game plays out like a real poker game, played in a tournament or at a casino. You'll see the dealer standing in position, with all players seated around the rest of the table. Up to 5 players can be seated at the table at once, with the virtual leather seats left empty when there's less than 5 playing. Cards are dealt by the dealer with a nice animation effect and realistic sounds. From there, players place bets, call and raise in the usual ways. You only have a set amount of time to take your action, otherwise you are marked as away from the game and must wait for the timer to stop before reentering the play in progress.
World Poker Club isn't a good app for anyone with a gambling addiction, while the rest of us can enjoy playing in moderation.
