Review The Crossing Dead

Ollie Green
Neat graphics, lots of levels, addictive game play, responsive controls
In-app purchases
What do you get when you cross Crossy Road with the Walking Dead? You get a lot of crosses, a lot of zombies, and probably something that looks a lot like The Crossing Dead for Android.
Just like Crossy Road, the objective in this game is to keep travelling through the world by hopping past traffic and over rivers. However, along the way you'll have to dodge zombies too. You can also pick up weapons that have been placed on the ground and use these to shoot down zombies as they crawl towards you.
The same 'bloxel' graphics seen in Crossy Road are present in this game. I think that whilst this game is not a direct clone of Crossy Road, it has enough to make it very similar, so you are either going to love it or hate it. Despite sharing the same concept, there is a lot about this game that is different. This includes the added zombie threat, the weapon mechanics, and the more versatile level designs. The levels are procedurally generated, which means they always look different every time you play them.
As you play you can pick up coins - these coins can be spent on various things in the main menu, including a large variety of different player skins. Some of the skins have been based upon popular characters or real life people, including Harry Potter and Tupac. Some extra characters can only be purchased with real money and these have extra special abilities that other characters do not posses.
Personally I think The Crossing Dead is a super fun game, and any zombie fans out there will absolutely love playing it. There are ads and IAPs, but they don't interfere with gameplay.
