Review The Cleaner - Speed up & Clean

Jay Feldman
7.2Good
Interesting functionality, various features, minimalist design
Arguably useless, weak functionality, old fashioned design
The Cleaner - Speed up & Clean for Android aims to keep your gizmo's innards neat and tidy. Just tap your screen to launch comprehensive diagnostics that tell you about your memory, storage and app usage, along with text and conversation analytics too.
The Cleaner - Speed up & Clean displays in portrait to reveal a huge circular button just begging to be pressed. Actually, there's 4 of these humongous buttons, one each for the 4 tabs at the top of your screen; memory, storage, apps, and conversations. Each diagnostic has to be run individually, but the upside, is you get to hit that big humongous button at least 4 times; fun!
Each of the 4 tabs offers comprehensive feedback for their respective categories, then prompts you to take various actions designed to keep your gizmo uncluttered and running smoothly. The storage tab is a good way to rid your folders of unwanted pictures, app caches and dead files you may no longer need. The apps tab is where you can analyze all the trails of breadcrumbs left behind by apps that are not wanted or needed and clean them accordingly, including uninstalling apps outright. The conversations tab allows you to delete conversation threads and numbers with ease.
Truth be told the app is a tad antiquated in thinking, stemming back to the old days of Windows when you had to keep track of all this stuff. To my understanding of the Android OS, all of this cleaning is much ado about nothing, but if you feel the compulsion to do it anyway, then this app can help.
The Cleaner - Speed up & Clean is decent for what it is, but to me, it's arguably useless and just needless busy work.
