Alarm Pad for Android is a great little utility that ads a bit more functionality to alarms than most stock apps. In addition to the wide array of features that the app offers, it can also be expanded by using your own extensions. All these are easily accessible through the modernly styled interface that feels right at home, especially with the Android Lollipop design.
This interface allows users to easily navigate among alarms, calendar events and short term weather forecast. By tapping and dragging along the face of a clock it is a breeze to set a ring for the desired time. Once set, users can set add labels and notes to be displayed when the alarm goes off.
While setting alarm, users have access to a vast array of additional customization features for it. These include additional display information, such as weather forecast, greeting messages, calendar entries and more. Additional customization options include vibration features, volume build-up and plenty special dismissal options, including math puzzles and NFC scans. Many of these are also available when setting calendar events.
Overall Alarm Pad is a decent app with a great interface, yet the additional features feel somewhat unnecessary. It is up to the individual user to experience the added features and see if they tailor to each individual. While the free version offers all, or most of the app’s powerful functions, those who truly enjoy using it may wish to spring for the paid version, at the very least in order to get rid of the occasional ads that are displayed.
