Review Blockwick 2
A simple but challenging puzzler
Author: Jay Feldman
Date: 31 May 2017, tested on Samsung SM-G920F Galaxy S6
Decent graphics, quality game play, one-finger controls
Too easy, very common
Blockwick 2 for Android is an innovative puzzle game with simple roots. This one is a lot like those childhood sliding tile puzzles, only with virtual blocks that you gotta move and arrange to solve each puzzle. The play is a solid brain teaser that's sure to entertain.
Blockwick 2 displays in portrait to reveal a series of single screen puzzles for you to solve. Each puzzle is contained within various geometric shapes, like squares and rectangles. Contained within each shape, is a cluster of blue and white tiles of varying shapes and sizes; some are rectangles, some are tiny squares, some are large, but there's always way more white tiles than blue ones. Your mission, is to slide and move all the tiles so as to merge all blue tiles into one. The tricky part is, there's not much wiggle room, so you have to think and strategize how to best accomplish each round. This one relies on trial and error and is genuinely addictive and challenging.
The controls use directional swipes and slides to move all the different tiles, and all functioned as expected. The graphics are simple but inviting, the animation is clean and smooth and the sounds feature a gentle and modern score that is enjoyable but could just as easily be muted without impacting the play. There's lots of levels to work through here, so this one will keep you busy a good while.
Blockwick 2 is good fun for puzzle fans of all ages. This one is great to come back to again and again when you need a puzzling fix.
