Review Wormags

Tariq Abdulla
6.1Good
Lots of levels, unusual game play, interesting physics
No multiplayer, graphics could have been better
Wormags for Android is kind of a miniature version of Worms. You have 2 of your own worms (sorry, wormags) playing against 2 computer wormags on a few different levels, with a few different weapons. Theres a rocket launcher which follows a curve, a pistol for straight shots, a grenade, a punch, and a hurricane; which I just couldn’t get to do anything.
What’s nice about the rounds is that they are short-lived. You only get 30 seconds to make your move, aim and shoot; which stops you dithering around too much. It’s all over pretty quickly. Moving around is fairly simple with right left and right left jumping buttons, but they are organised a bit awkwardly.
The main weakness with the game is that there is almost no visual feedback about how strongly or what direction you are aiming in. You just tap and drag around. If it’s the pistol or grenade launcher, you can see the weapon spinning around, but with the grenade you have no idea where it’s going until you release your finger. That’s a shame, as getting the grenade shots just right was really at least half the fun of Worms.
With many Worms games available, as well as clever new games based on the same concept like Jelly Wars, I’m hard pressed to recommend this one. But if you only have a few seconds to relive Worms on your mobile gadget, this will give you a few quick rounds of diversion.

6.1Good
Has reliable physics, features multiple stages and destructible environments
The graphics just look too lo-fi to enjoy, the weapon selection is boring, there is no multiplayer at all
Wormags for Android is a Worm-inspired game that is just incredibly basic in nature. If you’re not familiar with Worms then the only thing you really need to know is that it’s a turn-based “shooter” in that there are multiple players scattered across a level and you need to battle the game’s physics in order to shoot them with whatever artillery you’re packing.
This game almost feels like the proof of concept for Worms that should have been made years and years ago. It’s a knock off that feels worse, looks worse, and is ultimately just less fun to play.
Here you have these weird pod people that are fighting each other for who knows what. You control the green team and you want to annihilate the red team. Simple enough. You have a few weapons to choose from and you also have the ability to move under cover that the level provides. However, all of this can be destroyed, which is largely what led to the original game being so popular. That and the awesome local multiplayer.
This game has no multiplayer, however, and playing against the computer eventually feels cheap after they one-shot you for the 10th time in a row but you can never seem to reproduce the same results on your end. The weapons are also incredibly bland and boring to use, which is another drawback.
After playing Wormags I just have to sit back and scratch my head. Who is this game being made for? There is already a Worms game in the Play Store and it feels so much better to play than what this game has to offer.
