Quality graphics, interesting plot, simple controls
Too easy, very common, low quality animation
Haunted Empire-Three Kingdoms for Android is a fantasy combat RPG with turn by turn mechanics. Assemble your team of warriors then take part in epic battles. This one is decent enough, but rather cookie cutter and likely best suited for kids.
Haunted Empire-Three Kingdoms takes place in the mythic hills of ancient china, where warriors possess magical abilities of varying lethality and square off against menacing enemies. The game starts off in a town square of the kingdom you have vowed to protect. This is where you can upgrade weaponry, armor and enlist the help of new warriors to join you on your brave quests. From there, you head off into the hills to meet your enemy head on. The app presents in portrait, placing your team of warriors on the bottom half of the screen and your enemies on the top half. First you take your stabs and swipes, then your enemy. You can plan your attacks to deliver your most deadly blows, which erupt with fire, plasma bursts and intrigue.
The controls are simple and uncomplicated, so ideal for novice players. The graphics have lots of nice details, juxtaposing the beauty of the landscape against ancient looking military garb and blades. The animation has a lot of nice flash and pop to render during the heat of battle, but most of it is just motion tracking on still images. The sounds feature some nice effects and even spoken word narration.
Haunted Empire-Three Kingdoms is a well-rounded combat game, but it really doesn't bring much new to the table. It's good, not great.
