Touchdown Hero for Android is a game of running, dodging and avoiding tackles on an endless American football field. It’s like Forest Gump heaven. Simply hold and drag your finger around the screen to dodge player after player. It’s terrific fun, and highly addictive. But just like real football games, just when you’re getting into it, you’re going to be watching a whole lot of video ads before you can keep going.
The graphics are blocky, but good fun, with neat details like fat and skinny players, different costumes, and cheerleaders along the sidelines. When you caught, the pile up fight is obscured by an Asterix-style dustcloud. You’ll be running through all kinds of weather, including rain, snow, and sun. If you take your finger off the screen for a moment, the background goes dark, and everything moves in slow motion, as an energy bar goes down. So you could use this feature for getting out of some difficult tackles; though it’s also just cool to do it from time to time for effect or to give your finger a rest.
As you keep running you’ll get a series of “Touchdowns”, to reward you for the distance you’ve run. You can continue from your last run (retry) or give up, and this is where the video ads come in to it. You can turn the ads off for 99 cents But there are no in app purchases, and you unlock different team costumes as you keep running, which helps keep things interesting. You also get them as gifts.
