Review Tribal Rush
Tutorial Simulator 2015
Author: Brandon Girod
Date: 10 Apr 2017, tested on HTC One M8
Good graphics, traditional gameplay mechanics
Tries too hard to imitate the already established giants of the genre, obnoxious notifications, adds nothing innovative or fun to the formula, suffers from the longest tutorial ever created
Are you really into pointless tutorials? I mean spending a virtually endless amount of time being told exactly what to do even though you’ve spent years playing clones of the same game over and over again? If so, great! Tribal Rush for Android should have been named tutorial simulator 2015 because that’s just about all there is to it.
Make no mistake, this is a Clash of Clans clone through and through. Strategy-less, faux RTS-like gameplay mechanics? Check! Boring base-building that serves as nothing more than an eternal time sink? Check! Timers that becoming longer and longer? Double check!!
The most annoying thing about this game is the fact that it holds your hand through literally every process you can possibly get to. Most games get you through your basic buildings, which is already too far at this point since no game actually makes any effort to make any innovative experience. This game’s tutorial goes well beyond its welcome point, and for no good reason either.
The graphics are decent, but you really wouldn’t be able to tell this game apart from any of the other thousands of clones currently on the market. The gameplay mechanics are also identical to everything you’ve seen before. If you’re already vested a ton of time in something like Clash of Clans, this game does absolutely nothing to get you to switch over.
If you’re looking for a new faux-RTS game to play do yourself a favor and skip over Tribal Rush. It brings nothing new to the table, but it will annoy you to no end by forcing you to completely the longest and most mundane tutorial in the history of any video game I’ve ever played. Don’t get caught in the trap.
