Interesting levels, unusual game play, one-finger controls, quality physics
Grey Cubes for Android takes the incredibly popular brick breaker genre and breathes new life into it. I personally thought I'd seen everything there was to see with brick breaker games, but this app proves there is still more to do with the classic arcade concept.
There are a total of 60 levels in this game, but despite this, there was not one single level I played that did not manage to leave me impressed. The aim of the game is incredibly similar to what we've seen before - you must use a paddle to bounce a ball into all of the blocks, and the level will finish once all blocks have been destroyed. However, the way the game has been presented is completely new and refreshing.
Often, your ball will be able to break the boundaries of the original area you're shown on each level, and when this happens, the ball will travel to new areas. Sometimes moving blocks will be part of a level, or teleports that move the position of the ball. The developers have thrown in as many different concepts and mechanics as they can to make every level a unique experience.
To top off the awe-inspiring game mechanics, you'll notice that the graphics in this game are also very impressive. Great usage of the game cameras in the 3D environment always give the levels an atmospheric, spacious feel to them. The interface has been crafted to fit your hands perfectly, and the game controls are also easy to be used without your fingers ever having to block your vision of the game.
Grey Cubes is free to play, but there are adverts and in-app purchases to deal with.
