Review Monas - Expense Manager

Brandon Girod
The interface is really clean and intuitive, offers a ton of options and features, presents data in a number of different ways
Doesn't give any basis explanation of the features, some features are locked behind a paywall
I’ve spoken previously about how important of a tool smartphones have become in modern society. They make staying in contact with the entire world seamless, guide you where you need to be, helps remind you how and when to get to places, and even suggests new activities for you to try. Maybe one of the most overlooked aspects is its ability to help you keep track of your finances. Monas - Expense Manager for Android is a clean and simple to use budget manager.
One of my biggest complaints against most budget managers for phones is the inability to sync up my bank accounts and credit lines with the apps, and this one is no different. I’m someone who makes at least a few transactions every day and it just becomes too cumbersome to keep track of them all.
That said, this one really helps make the process as easy as possible. The first page is where you make the transaction. You select whether the transaction was income or expense by selecting either plus or minus. Then you simply enter the number in if it’s income or enter the expense and select a simple category if it’s an expense.
A surprising complaint I have towards this app is its lack of feature explanation. It just kind of drops you into the first page, so you’re stuck figuring the app out yourself. It’s easy enough, but most apps like this start with a few brief pages explaining basic features.
Monas is a great budget app and probably one of the easiest ones that I have ever used. It has powerful statistics and graphs to help you understand and control your spending habits, but has found a great way to make the whole process almost seamless. Ideally, I’d like to see banking integration, though.
