Neat graphics, interesting plot, simple controls, ads are not confusing
Battle for the Throne for Android is a card game that has managed to fit in a very in-depth story and great RPG mechanics. You are able to build your own deck of cards, consisting of a few heroes, and upgrade them as you play through the game.
Whilst many card games focus on the strategy elements, you'll find yourself lost within the story and RPG aspects of this game for a good few hours before you can even get to grips with how the strategy of this game plays out. In fact, whilst there are card battles to be had, the majority of the game takes place outside of the aforementioned battles.
You will be given access to a city which acts as the main game hub, and from here you can pick up quests, talk to important story-related characters, and go out into the wilderness to collect resources. You can use energy to collect resources from various points on the map, and doing so will reward you with a variety of experience points, food and gold. All three of these are needed to grow your hero cards and improve their skills.
The whole concept of this game is a little complex, so if you're looking for a fun strategic based trading card game, this may not be the game you are looking for. Gameplay is confusing for beginners, and you'll need to invest a large chunk of time into it before you even start to understand how everything works. With that being said, if you are looking for a beautifully story-driven experience to throw many hours into, this game may just be for you.
Battle for the Throne is free to play, but in-app purchases can be used to acquire various resources.
