Make friends with this bare bones chat app

Simple interface, minimalist design
Weak functionality, not enough of settings, low-quality design
Mico:Meet New People & Chat for Android is a no frills chat app that works with tablets and phones. Just input some basic biographical data, and before you know it, you'll be off and running towards a new and exciting social life. Okay, well maybe not exactly like that, but you get the picture.
Mico:Meet New People & Chat displays in portrait, and right off the top, presents an old school interface featuring people near you on a vertically scrolling interface populated with square thumbnails and the approximate distance from your current location. Just scroll through all the offerings to find a new special friend and tap on their thumbnail to read additional info. Profiles are only as captivating as users have made them, so sometimes you see a lot of information, and more often you see very sparse personal details. To make nice with someone new, just send them a message or post a few words.
The app functions well enough for what little it does. Truth be told, I can't help but feel this is just another hook-up app at its core, but sure, you can probably make an online friend or two as well. There's a news feed interface that shows recent activity, like when new photos are posted or comments are made. The idea here is to create a thriving community, but at the end of the day, this is ultimately a private messaging app. There's an array of sticker packs to be downloaded and used in your messages and some of them are quite comical and fun.
Mico:Meet New People & Chat is a decent chat app that feels more like a dating app in disguise; either way, it's only marginally interesting and far too old school for its own good.
