Neat graphics, lots of levels, interesting game play

What’s The Difference? for Android is a very challenging game of spot the difference. These are real photos that have been artfully edited to add, remove or change some minor details. You tap in either photo where you think you see a difference. There’s a countdown timer, and too many wrong guesses will also make you lose. Don’t think pausing the game is going to help you either: they’ve thought of that, so of course you can’t see the photos on pause.
Some of these differences really can be subtle. An extra black key on a piano. One of the leaves floating on a pond. Occasionally, I couldn’t even tell what the difference was, even after I had somehow managed to identify it. If you lose, it knocks you back to the last milestone you reached. You get to play the same photos again, but the differences are different!
There are 5 differences to spot on each level, so it is a quickfire game that’s really quite addictive. The trick is to use the various lifelines judiciously to keep yourself on a winning streak. Pick all the easy ones first, then “reveal one” if you get stuck. Use “zap tap” to pause the countdown (and that nerveracking music). Totally stuck? Use that “skip level”, if you have one.
What’s The Difference? is well put together, and a far cry from the Spot The Difference puzzles of my childhood. There are quite a few ads that link you through to the Play store, but they don’t spoil the fun of the game.
