Android has always represented an open platform. It might be getting away from that now since it’s matured, but I will always remember all the tweaking both under the hood and aesthetically that a huge number of users obsessed over. 123on for Android is an app that kind of takes me back to that time, but in a very different way. This is an app that let’s you create videos that can be played during calls and set as your wallpaper.
So, I like the fact that you can set videos as live wallpapers for your phone. Especially if you happen to have a good quality video. Rather than hoping someone has the type of live wallpaper that you want exactly, you can actually go out and make your own. They make it relatively easy to do, too.
On the other hand, the video quality I saw that was pretty poor, and wouldn’t be up to par versus your favorite live wallpaper now.
I’m also not really sure why you’d want a video to play when someone calls you. I mean, sure, it’ll look cool the first time you see it, but the chances of you looking at it or watching it after the fact is pretty slim. It’s just not a feature most people are going to be interested in.
123on is a really unique app, though. I’ve never thought it would be a cool idea for a video to play of who was calling instead of a photograph, but maybe I’m just a boring person. Regardless, the app works really well for what it wants to do, and I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who would make great use of it.
