Review Email Exchange + by MailWise
A great email app for users who have more than just Gmail accounts
Author: Brandon Girod
Date: 28 Apr 2017, tested on HTC One M8
Intuitively designed, easy to use, familiar format
Doesn't do any type of auto filter or organization, doesn't try to innovate anywhere
Smartphones have quickly changed the way we all stay productive throughout the day. We can no longer use the excuse “I was out of the office” because most of us have our work email accounts synced to our phones, which means we’re reachable no matter where we are. Email for Exchange & Hotmail + for Android is kind of mislead because it’s an email app that actually does so much more than just give you an excellent way to check your Microsoft emails.
When I first downloaded this app, I thought I was going to have to dig out my old hotmail account from 2001 because, outside of a corporate environment, who really uses Microsoft emails anymore? Fortunately, the app actually supports just about every email domain you could possibly want to use, and it does a pretty bang up job of it.
The one thing you have to know up front is that automatic organization is not really a key function of the app, which is kind of the opposite direction most email apps are heading towards.
For instance, there were several times I was just kind of left confused as to why some emails were showing up in my main inbox because I’m now so used to having Google automatically filter some messages into my social or promotional email tabs. This change was completely seamless to me, and it’s actually a feature I missed while using this app.
The setup is very familiar, though, and you really won’t have any issues getting used to using the app. Everything works exactly how you’d imagine it.
To be honest, there wasn’t any real reason for me to switch to Email for Exchange & Hotmail as a gmail user. For someone who needs more than just Gmail, it’s not bad at all, but it does exactly what every other email app does. It’s completely competent, but not revolutionary.
