Review Strafe Esports

Brandon Girod
Good and intuitive design and UI, features urls so you can view streams externally, gives you a lot of in-depth info on the teams, players, and matches
You can only view events three days at a time, there is no calendar view
E-sports is one thing that takes a lot of effort to follow. It’s not like typical sports where there are only a few you can really chose from and a few teams to follow. Teams span across the world. Strafe for Android is an easy-to-use way for you to keep track of the matches you want.
The first thing I noticed about the app was its design. You start off with a really fast setup process that helps you get started so you can follow what games you want. I personally just went for Hearthstone and DOTA2, but it also supports Starcraft 2, League of Legends, and Counter-Strike. It even features a spoiler free mode which hides who has one which rounds in which matches so you can catch up later on.
The unfortunate thing about the app is the way it handles the matches. You can only see what matches happened yesterday and which ones are happening today and tomorrow. There is no way to see what happened a few days ago, and there is no way to check and see what matches might be happening this coming weekend. This is a small gripe, but it’s definitely one that will make the app quite a bit more useful.
When you’re checking out the matches you’ll notice that there is a lot of detail about the teams and matches. You can set a reminder, it shows you what type of match it is, the format, the lineup, and where you can find the streams to watch it.
Strafe is a great app that already does a ton of things well. I love the amount of information it has on every match, and I really like just how convenient it makes following your favorite teams or upcoming events. It just needs a more expansive calendar view to complete the app.
