Review QualityTime - My Digital Diet

Brandon Girod
Works seamlessly in the background, presents data in an easy to digest format, has a great aesthetic
Doesn't accrue data in real time
Let’s not kid ourselves, we all spend a ton of time doing mundane things on our smartphones. Sometimes we spend hours matching trivial gems together, and other times we spend that time running around endless temples all day. ZeroDestkop has stepped in with QualityTime for Android, which is an app that wants to help you manage how you spend your time on your phone so you can create better quality time out in the real world.
When you start using this app, you’ll quickly become a little embarrassed by what you find out. For instance, just today I’ve visited my favorite Reddit app 43 times. That’s kind of a lot. But this is exactly what this app wants to do. First, it wants to show you just how often you really use your apps because if you had asked me how many times I’ve been on Reddit today, I would have probably said I had only been on it a few times. That’s because we tend to overlook how many times we check it but only spend a minute or so in the app.
One of the cool features of this app is that presents a way you can lock yourself out of apps so you can help limit how many times you actually open an app throughout the day. So, let’s say you’re going out to dinner with friends and family. You can effectively lock yourself out of your phone during times of weakness, so you can focus on what really matters.
I was a little skeptical about QualityTime at first. I didn’t really know what to think of it, but after using it a few days I felt that it’s really good at what it does. It’s seamless, and tracks data in the background so you don’t even notice it. And it’s a great way to manage how you use your phone.
