Can be quite unforgiving
Do you like watching game over screens? Do you consider them an integral part of your gaming experience? Does the idea of permadeath make you wet in the pants? If so, you’ve probably already jumped into a game called Pixel Dungeon because it’s one of the most popular rogue-likes on the market. Shattered Pixel wants you to jump into the dungeon just a few hundred more times in their take of the popular game, Shattered Pixel Dungeon for Android.
Now, this is a modded version of the original game, so all of the same principles apply. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, I’ll go over the basics. You begin by picking one of four classes that have different play styles, and then you get thrown into a randomly generated dungeon. It’s your job to explore, fight, and survive until you reach the very bottom. If you die, you’re dead forever. Just like in real life.
So, as you play along, you’ll find cool loot, learn new abilities, and level up your character. This game changes the way some of these things work and adds more content to the game. One of the biggest inclusions to the game is a new item class called artifacts. These are utility items that get better as you use them. There are new rings and new food items as well.
Potions, scrolls, seeds, and monsters have all been slightly tweaked as well.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon makes some really cool changes to the game, and adds a completely new gameplay mechanic through the use of artifacts. In other words, it’s all the good parts of the old game, with tons of new items to find.
