A reminder to appreciate what you've already got
Performs well, organizes your apps intuitively
Has tacky and ugly themes, the design looks very outdated, displays ads on your homescreen

Every now and then I start to get fidgety with the way my homescreen looks. Sometimes I’ll simply find a new wallpaper, other times I’ll get pretty creative and come up with a whole new theme for it. One of Android’s strongest features is the ability to completely customize the way you interact with it. Aero Launcher for Android is a launcher that kind of tries to do the opposite. Rather than letting you customize everything, it simply puts you in a box full of apps and leaves you there.
If you couldn’t tell from that last sentence, I’m not a huge fan of this launcher. The immediate look and feel of it is incredibly cheap. It feels like something that belongs on Froyo, not Google’s new and beautiful Lollipop.
The idea of the launcher is all about organization. You swipe left and right through headers labeled ‘favorites’, ‘apps’, ‘games’, and ‘top 50’. It really doesn’t make searching for apps more convenient, however. Instead it just introduces more swipes into the equation. You can get the same functionality from good use of folders that comes native on Android already.
Let’s not dive into the ‘top 50’ either. This is a clever way for the developers to stick advertisement directly on your homescreen. You’ll probably notice a few icons you’ve never seen before that have a little genie next to them. This is a ‘recommendation’ the app makes for you based on your currently installed apps. However, the ones presented on my device weren’t related to anything else I had installed.
Aero Launcher can safely be avoided. It has good performance, but so does native Android. It’s ugly, and sticks advertisements directly on your homescreen, which is totally unacceptable in my book.
