Finally, an answer to an age old question, helps users find objects they want but could never identify, beautifully designed app
Has a small community at the moment
If you’ve been on the internet for any amount of time, chances are you’ve stumbled across a picture of something you really liked, but didn’t know how to identify it. Could be a cool guitar, camera, or who knows what. The Hunt for Android is an aptly named app that wants to build a community around helping its users find those items that they’re looking for.
The main focus of the app are the hunts. A hunt is something you set up to find. Let’s say you were browsing through a fashion blog and found a photo of a sweater you really liked, but the author made no mention about where it was from. You can start a hunt, tagging it appropriately, and letting users that might be able identify the item help you find it.
At the moment, the app is heavily focused on fashion and accessories. As you might assume, this means the majority of the users are female and submit female oriented items. If you’re a guy, don’t let this turn you away, there are still plenty of hunts to join for you as well.
I really, really liked the app’s design and overall aesthetic. You could tell the developers really knew what they were doing. Every action has a really smooth and beautiful transition. It’s basic, but beautiful.
As of right now The Hunt has a small community, and since it’s so community driven, it doesn’t have as much content as you might hope for. I love the idea of users helping each other find items in photos, but I also wish they would branch out and emphasize other things as well.
