Review Crossy Road

Unique aesthetic, simple gameplay with responsive controls, has frequent rewards to keep the game interesting
Gameplay never evolves into more advanced mechanics
If you’ve ever wanted to know what Frogger might look like if it was made in a more contemporary aesthetic then let me introduce you to Crossy Road for Android. This is a game about crossing weirdly built roads, oddly landscaped medians, and rivers with an abnormal amount of pre-cut logs. Don’t ask.
I love this game for its simplicity, but I hate it for the same reason. It seems too simple to fail until you find your poor animal sprite splattered against the side of a semi-truck. It’s gruesome, but that’s life and life is short.
Tapping on the screen makes your animal jump forward one space, and you can swipe in different directions to move sideways. I had the best runs by simply smashing my finger into the screen repeatedly and not thinking too much about it. After all, if you wait too long then you’ll die from the inevitable camera creeping up to you.
The visuals are really cool, everything looks like it was made from cubes. But sleek cubes, not the blocky ones from Minecraft. The sound is good, the game never stutters, and everything is super responsive. The devs packed humor into any nook and cranny they could. It’s surprising that they could come up with such a charming knock-off of a game that was released over 30 years ago.
I didn’t think I was going to enjoy Crossy Road as much as I did. I was half expecting it to be similar to Flappy Bird, but the game delivers with solid gameplay, good performance, and unique visuals.

A fun game and simple to play I do not agree it is 'gruesome' in any way it's a not very realistic pixel animal ! And I also do not advise you just smash your 'finger' into the screen repeatedly it's about skill after all.
