Quality 3D graphics, online multiplayer, exciting game play, responsive controls
N.O.V.A. 3: Freedom Edition for Android is a free re-release of the same FPS game that was previously published on the app store. This time round, the paywall has been removed, and an in-game credit system, supplemented by in-app purchases, has been added.
There are two portions to this game: the multiplayer and the singleplayer, both of which contain hours worth of fun. On multiplayer, players can choose to play online or against their friends via local Wi-Fi. When playing against other players on multiplayer, you can choose to hit up a variety of game types spread across various levels. The level design is neat, and the graphics are incredibly detailed.
As well as having a wide variety of weapons to access, N.O.V.A supports a few different vehicles, all of which can be accessed on the multiplayer and the singleplayer modes. The game mechanics are surprisingly smooth for a touch-screen based shooter. Whilst it pales in comparison to a shooter on the PC or a console, the controls are responsive and easy to get the hang of.
As for the singleplayer mode in this game, it's certainly not worthy of a Grammy, but the story is enough to captivate and engage you as you play through each mission. It's especially good considering the game can now be picked up and played for free.
It's good to see that N.O.V.A. 3: Freedom Edition is now free. If you are a fan of FPS shooters or sci-fi action games, you should definitely give this game a go.
