Good controls, visuals are top notch, although generic
Call of Mini Zombies 2 for Android is a third-person arcade shooter which has you tromping through levels shooting zombies with different guns. The game is heavy on microtransactions, and the gameplay is repetitive (although gory, smooth, and pretty satisfying). In the game you endlessly kill zombies and collect new weapons to kill them with, through either buying them with earned gold over time, or taking your chances with the slot machine that might give you a good payout. The slot machine takes real currency - you can also buy guns with straight currency. Most of this is standard fare, and the game itself feels amazingly standard. The zombie run and gun genre is now a definite thing, with microtransactions and payment models virtually identical across the board. The graphics are classic cartoon fare with blocky characters that look straight pulled out of Minecraft, just like a lot of other zombie games, unsurprisingly.
While the characters do contain similar styles to Minecraft Steve, they look pretty decent. And so does the rest of the game. Blood comes out of zombies frequently, and the levels look passable and decent. The controls also feel very good, even if you waste ammo trying to line up shots. Overall, while the game isn’t unique, the developers have learned from other zombie games to create an experience that feels suited to the mobile form. Perhaps too suited for it - did I mention how the game is literally built around monetization?
There isn’t much effort in terms of story in the game, and the zombies don’t have feelings either. Things revolve mostly around you collecting guns, and dispatching zombies, and then collecting currency. Overall, if you go into this game expecting surprises, you are going to be disappointed.
Call of Mini Zombies 2 is a decent arcade zombie shooting experience complete with microtransactions everywhere.
