Neat graphics, lots of levels, exciting game play, unusual game play, simple controls
There are so many match 3 games out on the play store now that it is hard to find something unique. By taking too many steps out of the sub-genre, a developer's game may not even be seen as a match 3 game anymore. But by failing to do something innovative, most games end up becoming just like every other. Luckily, the developers of Cupcake Carnival for Android managed to match up just enough code to create a game that is unique whilst staying true to what it means to be a match 3 game.
In this game, the objective is of course to match 3 or more tiles in a row. Doing so will award you with points and remove tiles from the board. However, the tasty twist here is that the tiles are different types of cakes, and there is a queue of customers lining up, and they all have specific orders. For example, one customer may want 12 green cakes, while another may prefer 4 blue cakes.
To play this game successfully, you will need to complete the customer's requests by matching the corresponding cakes. To make things a bit of a challenge, you will have a limited amount of turns to complete these requests. Luckily, there are a few power-ups that can be created by matching a certain number of cakes; so there are ways to get around tricky situations.
Another great thing about this game is the abundance of levels. You'll be able to keep yourself entertained for hours. You may occasionally come across a level that seems unbearably difficult to beat, but if you're up for a challenge, you should be able to get past it without spending on IAPs.
Cupcake Carnival is totally free to play, and for the most part you can play throughout the entire game without needing to spend on in-app purchases.
