Perfectly balanced gameplay mechanics, meaningful content updates, healthy and competitive player base, incredibly addictive gameplay
Has some input lag
Hearthstone for Android is an incredible game that has been long awaited on the Android platform. Set in the World of Warcraft universe, this game features many popular heroes, villains, and other characters from the series, in the form of cards that you will collect and create decks with to compete against other players.
The game mechanics are a perfect balance of depth and openness. That is to say, the game is incredibly easy to jump into and requires just enough strategy for there to be a high skill ceiling, but it’s not overly complicated or convoluted.
Matches are generally pretty sure, usually not lasting more than 10 to 15 minutes. One player starts by drawing three cards. You start with one mana and gain an additional mana for every turn. The second player gets to draw an extra card and gets a mana card that can give them an additional mana early in the game. This can be a powerful advantage, but statistically doesn’t imbalance the game.
There are hundreds of cards, and Blizzard just released a new expansion, though I’m not sure that it has been implemented into the mobile version just yet.
The game translates really well on a tablet, which is great. Many people commented on how well it would work on this platform before there were any real talks of it being ported over. The touch controls work well enough most of the time, but there does appear to be input lag, and it’s really not as fluid as it is in the PC version. The game plays well regardless.
Hearthstone is a game I’ll probably sink many hours on, especially in its tablet version. The game is linked to your Battle.net account, so you can go between the two clients, and the game just makes sense on tablets. If you haven’t jumped into Hearthstone yet, definitely give it a shot.
