Interesting slideshow concept
Doesn't perform well, very hard to use
8tory- Gallery for Android is a strange app, and one that upon installation, you might just not know what to do with it. I know I didn’t. It feels like an Instagram, but then it also tries to organize your photo into galleries at the same time within the tabbed menu system. Overall, it just feels like a mess, not something useful or fun.
When you start the app you see galleries, and then you realize they aren’t your photos. No, they are other user’s galleries that they have shared for you to look at. You can scroll down easily enough to see various user albums, and when you select one you can view a slideshow of sorts of their photos. These animations are probably the coolest part of the app.
When you want to see your own galleries, you tap the four little squares icon. Then you are shown (well not really, as you will find out) your different galleries organized loosely by dates. When you tap on one of the galleries to view it, it takes you to view other user galleries. What? Why!!
So when you are done not viewing your galleries, you can also look at them categorized by their thumbnails in different date organizations like day, week, and month. There’s another way to share photos by “picking up” photos, but the app doesn’t explain what that means.
8tory- Gallery is a great app to view other user’s compilations and slideshows. However, in terms of looking at your own content, the interface is extremely lacking, unintuitive, confusing, and slow to use.
