Review Facets

Brandon Girod
Original wallpapers, intuitively designed layout, easy-to-use application
The app has stuttering issues
Facet for Android is an awesome collection of wallpapers with various inspirations and designs. The idea behind the app is pretty unique because there is one wallpaper for every day of the year.
All of the wallpapers in this pack have one thing in common: vibrant colors. Even the dark colors feel bright, and seem like they just pop out at you. The wallpapers are categorized by month by default, but you can also browse through several other different categories, like concepts and moods.
It’s hard to put an overall tone to the app, but the visuals are definitely unique. The abstract shapes, designs, patterns, objects, and animals all have a sort of shiny metallic look to them, but not in a cheap or cheesy way. The contrast between complex designs against simple backgrounds is great, though some of the color contrast in general made it difficult to be able to pair some wallpapers with themes I created.
The app’s layout is pretty intuitive to use, and I felt that the filters and categories were intelligent enough for me to find the types of wallpapers I was looking for. Applying them is easy, and you don’t have to worry about cropping or resizing them. They’ll be compatible for just about any screen resolution. Additionally, you can even buy prints of the wallpapers you really enjoy.
Overall Facet is one of my favorite collections of wallpapers on the Play Store right now. I really like the different designs and just how unique they look. Especially with the recent flood of repugnant material design inspired wallpaper packs.
