Chat Roulette, texting edition

Chatous for Android is Chat Roulette, with texting instead of instant video connection. With the app, you build your profile with various interests and you connect your social media accounts to verify your information. Once this is done, you search for users randomly throughout the app and it shows you a potential match. You are given the choice to either skip the match or chat with them, and then the person you are matched with is given the same option.
It is very hard to find someone to chat with in Chatous (quite ironic isn’t it?). I must have been skipped around 20 times within a 10 minute frame trying to find people. I skipped a few people as well, and the people I did connect to I didn’t actually get them to say anything to me.. But hey, I did get a friend request from someone named Knife & Fork- who still hasn’t replied to my message “hey”. What a jerk right? He strings me along like this and doesn’t even bother to respond to my inquiry!!
While I couldn’t actually get anyone to chat with me on Chatous, I do like the idea of the app. It’s a funny idea that could result in some interesting conversations with interesting people. However, I think the app would be a lot better if it matched people on some sort of priority system based on your interests. That way, you wouldn’t skip or get skipped so much. The app is near useless in its current state, with how hard it is to talk to people
Chatous has more merit in its ideas and potential; rather than the immediate and current value of the app. I can’t recommend it right now, but it might be interesting to see if it goes anywhere or improves its matchmaking system.
