Race Team Manager for Android is a racing game that strips away the typical kind of gameplay we'd expect to see, and puts a set of strategy-based game mechanics in it's place. Whilst there are some fast-paced racing scenes in this game, most of the action happens within the menu after the player decides upon his or her next move.
In this game, a menu screen displays the position you are in the race, and you will be given various opportunities to hold your place or overtake somebody that is in front of you. When you take these opportunities, you will be thrown into a real-time mini game. These mini games often get you to use basic swipe, tilt or tap gesture based controls to drive past another vehicle.
It does take a bit of skill to complete these mini games successfully, and this will partly lead to your success in each race. However, a larger impact on the game is made within the menu screen in between mini games. You are given a certain amount of moves you can perform before you must hit the pit stop, at which point you're almost guaranteed to lose a place or two, and that's even if you're fast at completing the pit stop mini game.
You must use the pre-set aggressive, cautious and standard racing modes within each race to drive into first place. Each have their pros and cons, and a good player will know when to use each one. This approach to gameplay is unique, and quite enjoyable. The game also has some very nice graphics and in-game sounds. The only downside is its slow loading times.
Race Team Manager is free to download and install, but there are some in-app purchases in the game.
