Innovative features trapped within an outdated design

Lots of settings, simple interface, minimalist design
Functions slowly, inconvenient interface, old fashioned design
AccuWeather for Android is brought to you by the ABC news weather team. It has some decent widgets and expanded forecast capabilities, but the design and presentation needs some refinement.
AccuWeather is an all inclusive weather app. Easily set multiple locations and switch between them for up to the minute forecasts. See how the weather will unfold hourly or daily, with maps and graphics that are inviting and appealing; though somewhat dated. You can also watch video clips with weather forecasts, just like on the news.
The biggest downside to this app is the interface and presentation. It’s decent, but very old fashioned and unintuitive. For some reason, just getting the entire week’s forecast at a glance was needlessly cumbersome. When you view the daily or hourly, the fonts are just far too small and the design is very static and dated.I did like how you can advance an interactive dial to any hour of the day to see if there's precipitation coming your way at any given moment; very cool. But in general, the presentation is clumsy and would look cramped and minuscule on a small screen.
The app offers three different widgets; only one of which is modern and contemporary. Sadly, the coolest widget is lacking the best feature possessed by the two more dismal looking widgets; and that’s the ability to easily swap forecasts between all your saved locations. So the best looking widget is hamstrung, but looks great; while the two mediocre looking widgets actually function nicely but don't look all that great. Some middle ground between the designs would be nice.
AccuWeather has a lot of name recognition, but sadly, the app doesn't live up to the quality and innovative forecasts that the brand is known for. This app is just ok; there are certainly better.
