Review CM Browser
A fast, clean, and secure browsing experience
Author: Brandon Girod
Date: 05 Jun 2017, tested on HTC One M8
Offers security features baked into the app, lightweight and smooth
Can be a bit of a resource hog
CM Browser for Android is a relatively new web browser from the same guys that brought you Clean Master. They aim to bring you a browser that is clean, fast, and safe by offering you an intuitive UI, in-browser security protection, and a small footprint on your device
.
There are already tons of browsers available on the Android platform, so what makes this one any different? Not much, in my experience. The browser’s UI is pretty clean and non-invasive. At the top you have the address bar along with the menu bottom, as you would expect. The bottom is where you have back and forward, home, additional options, and the tab button.
Multiple tabs are handled in a pretty cool way. Rather than just have a simple view of whatever cards you have up, they’re displayed like a fan and you can swipe through them. Contrary to other browsers, this gives you a way to view a large amount of the site’s content straight from the tab.
Both of these UI bars hide themselves once you begin to scroll down and view the content presented on the page.
I found performance to be quick – about on par with Firefox and Google Chrome. The app is full of security features. For instance, it will warn you when you’re about to download an APK file, you can enable fraud prevention, and it will allow you to choose to not be tracked.
CM Browser offers a secure browser that is just as fast and easy to use as any other browser currently available. The download size is incredibly small, but I found that it was actually more resource hungry and than even Chrome when I compared the same content on both browsers. If you’re worried about your privacy online then this is a great alternative.
