Choppy framerates and gameplay
Rooster Teeth vs Zombiens for Android, is a quirky game that tries to combine base-holding mechanics and strategy. You start off in the game without anything to your name, and as you progress, you can get better weapons, build defenses, and find team members to help you survive.
Rooster Teeth has cool style. The game has a blue dark color scheme that makes the zombien blood look very vibrant and glowy green. The characters in the game also look cute, and the general premise of zombien is creative in a cringey sort of way. What do you get when you cross alien and zombies? You guessed it! Zombiens!
The game feels pretty simple in some ways, and confusing in others. Movement works just by tapping to move around, and combat is equally as simple. Its very frustrating in the game because you can’t really rely on skill to win your battles, as in the beginning you just stand next to the zombiens and take hits just as much as you hand them out. Your health drops rapidly, and the game doesn’t really explain how to get your health back. The closest weapon is a CD, which feels pretty useless. When you get your gun, the range feels powerful but shortly after I got it, there were ranged zombiens nuking me with blue plasma blasts. It’s cool that there are different zombies, but the zombiens felt too hard- given the sluggish combat and tap to move controls.
While movement feels awkward, the game also just feels choppy in a general sense as well. You have to collect resources from fallen zombiens which are very small and often hard to see. When you are moving around, you can expect FPS to stutter and make things even more difficult.
Rooster Teeth vs Zombiens has decent graphics and good ideas, but unfortunately the end product is lackluster. The controls are very awkward, which doesn’t match well with the hectic style of the game. They should of made it more like a dual stick shooter, and the game would feel much bette r- if not similar to other games on the market.
