Good roulette idea
Social integration isn't intuitive
Trivia Crack for Android is a trivia game for Android that uses a lot of microtransactions, flair, and social means in order to get you to do trivia. It feels like an ad version of popular app, QuizUp.
Trivia Crack differentiates itself by using a spinning roulette type thing in order to assign trivia. The way it works is that you are matched with an opponent (whether random or one of your friends) and then you spin the wheel. It lands on a certain tile in the small circular board and you have to answer a question based on that category. For example, you could get history and then asked a history question. Once you answer this question, you either get it wrong or right and then it’s your friends turn.
While Trivia Crack does have social integration it doesn’t feel as intuitive or as fun as QuizUp. What made QuizUp so great was that you could fight your friends and see their answers in real time or later on. This provided a great gameplay and social mechanic that let you rub your victory in, or just get an accurate readout why you lost. That sort of idea is not as present in Trivia Crack, as the game focuses more on the spinning wheel idea and random trivia.
In some ways, Trivia Crack would have been better if it was simply another mode on QuizUp that let users spin it. It’s design isn’t as beautiful as QuizUp and while it can be fun to spin the roulette thing, so much of the app feels cheesy and cheap. There are a ton of tabs on the side, and you are encouraged to spend money on microtransactions to get currency.
Trivia Crack is a fun trivia game but one that feels shallow and cheap when matched up against other apps of the same idea.
